Recently, conversations between the Episcopal Dioceses of Chicago and Quincy have taken place. The conversations center on the potential of a merger between our two Dioceses. We were one Diocese until a separation took place several years ago. A split within the Quincy Diocese has occurred, with some parishes breaking away and forming a new and independent diocese. However, there are still several parishes that remain steadfast and firmly attached to the Episcopal Church of which we are part. These dialogues will take time and much effort. We are asked to pray for the Spirit’s guidance and direction in this delicate and important matter.
