Free The Prisoner

One of our icons has pride of place during Black History Month; that of Dr Martin Luther King. He is depicted holding a placard with a prisoner number on it, a visual reference to his stay in the Birmingham jail.

The anthem sung by the choir last week was carefully chosen; the line “free the prisoner” was repeated, along with lines calling for peace, justice, and equality.

We are all prisoners, in a way. We must strive to free each other and ourselves from the chains that bind us.

Bishop’s Committee, Anyone?

Would you like to serve on the Bishop’s Committee?  If so, please notify Fr. Manny, Pat Kalicki, or Steve Raftery.  We meet the second Sunday of each month at 8:15 am to 9:45 am, and are looking to add new members.  If you aren’t interested, maybe you know someone who is and would like to nominate them.  We won’t put anyone up for election without first getting their permission.
